Bill Mulcahy founded Mulcahy Accounting & Risk Consulting with the vision to save companies money and time by providing them with an interim accounting and risk executive for short-term and less than full-time needs.
Prior to starting his own business, Bill was the Chief Audit Executive (CAE) of Emory University including Emory Healthcare with full responsibility for planning, leading and executing the audit program for the Audit Committee of the Board of Trustees and the Executive Vice President for Finance & Administration. Bill is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
Bill earned Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation during his professional career working for Arthur Andersen & Co for ten years where he served clients in healthcare, not for profit and commercial industries. His resume includes successful stints auditing for the Federal Government and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia and as CFO with a hospital and Division CFO overseeing the Office of Grants and Contract Accounting at Emory University.
Bill received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Philadelphia University and a Master of Science in Healthcare Policy and Administration from Mercer University.
Bill is the Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Internal Auditors, Atlanta and the namesake and winner of its annual “William J. Mulcahy – Excellence through Leadership Award.” He is also Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Internal Audit Center of the Coles College of Business at Kennesaw State University.
Prior Civic and Professional Board Service includes:
- Community Friendship Inc, an agency serving the homeless and mentally ill serving as Board member 17 years and President two years and their 1994 and 2004 Distinguished Service Award winner.
- Emory Federal Credit Union – Board member for ten years including Treasurer for two years.
Association of Healthcare Internal Auditors (AHIA) Board member for four years
including Chairman of the Board and Founder’s Award winner.
